The cow says, “Moo.” The horse says, “Neigh.” And your little animal lover shouts, “Hooray!” when you plan a trip to the farm this summer. We’ve pieced together the best our area has to offer when it comes to family farms. From animal encounters and berry picking, to farms that add carnival faves alongside their wide open spaces, each one guarantees enough fresh air plus play time to tucker out your mini farm hand by the end of the day.

Remlinger Farms

Visiting Remlinger Farms in Carnation is a bit like taking a trip to Disneyland, but without the plane ride or the mouse. Part carnival, part working farm, it’s got lots to occupy the Littles when the sun is shinning. The younger set will get a kick out of canoe rides, a carousel and the sweet little steam train that chugs around the property and along the Tolt River. The bigger kiddos can ride ponies, drive antique cars and even take in a roller coaster or two before jumping feet first into the hay barn (Littles are welcome here, too).

There’s food for purchase on the property, and although they don’t allow outside food in the park, there are plenty of picnic tables just outside the entrance if you prefer to pack your own. The on-site restaurant serves up delish eats and the large market has tons of take-home (or enjoy on-site) options. During the summer months, be sure to hit the U-pick berry fields on your way out. Strawberry season is in full swing now and blueberries and raspberries ripen up in July. Definitely worth the trip!
