Next up on your back-to-school to-do list… haircuts. Are you hiding under your kitchen table? Come on out. We promise that it’s safe. Not only are the stylists at these salons prepared to take on kids who hate to have their hair washed (um, all kids?), kids who have “wiggle” as their middle name and even kids who will scream for the entire haircut, but the salon themselves are well-stocked with cartoons, toys and other distractions to make getting your kiddos hair freshened up for fall as painless as possible. A few tips from expert moms: Make an appointment to cut-down on pre-appointment waiting time, which can be torture if you have an anxious kid. And think about the cut before you arrive so that the stylist can get going right away and take advantage of having their hair washed – better the stylist than you!Photo courtesy of scribbletaylor via Flickr
Beach Comber Kids Cuts
Scissor Rating: Considering Beach Comber Kids Cuts is not just a kid’s only salon, but an organic kids only salon, they get major points with parents who have already committed to going all natural with their hair products at home. The playroom is amazing at Beach Comber and you don’t feel like you need to rush out the door after your cut, so reward your kiddo for sitting still with some play time!

The Salon at Kid’s Club
Scissor Rating: We’ve already established that University Village is practically Mecca for moms, so it’s not surprising that they also have a very popular kid’s salon. The Salon at Kid’s Club is always bustling with haircut traffic and we love that many of the stylists there have been there for ages, so you can certainly find a favorite! Plus, trains to play with while you wait for your appointment, fun browsing for mom while the little ones are getting their haircut and a variety of products made especially for kids. Leave the stroller in the car… parking is tight between the salon and the store.
Chair Status: They have a variety of vehicle chairs to choose from, as well as a couple of traditional chairs for older kids.
