Celebrating a birth? A birthday? We’ve got a few tips on new, local services that can make getting together the party hats and candles easier–and so successful. Looking for serious help planning a big birthday, school fundraiser, neighborhood bash, or other event? Studio Boum comes to your rescue ($95/six-month membership) with their Fremont-based research boutique. The staff helps you wade through vendors as you relax and sip champagne while you browse the portfolios they’ve acquired. Your membership includes a consultation, a personalized checklist and guide to vendors, unlimited access to the studio’s resources, and invitations to cake tastings, fashion shows, and more.
Planning a baby shower? Check out Original Baby Showers, where you can order kits ($25) filled with what you need to go beyond the grocery store cake and same old shower games. Packages are centered around themes–baby toys, baby library, multiples, boys, and girls–and include downloadable invitations, recipes, unique games and/or crafts, decorating tips, and gift ideas. If you’ve got your own theme in mind but want help fleshing out the details, just ask local mom-and-daughter proprietors Nancy Tiffany and Jody Lenius to create a custom kit. They’re up for the task!
Just looking for announcements, invites, or holiday cards? Check out the selection from Mango Ink. This family-run, Northwest company offers eco-friendly, hand-mounted photo cards (starting at about $2/each) for all occasions. Plus, they’re quick. Get email proofs in just one day. Provide digital photos, get back gorgeous postcards, folded cards, labels, or posters.
