Now this is a really cool idea: tune and gussy up an old piano, place it in a Puget Sound area park, and let the music begin! At least, that’s what Pianos in the Parks hopes will happen.

This creative project is actually happening right now through August 17 at area parks like Marymoor and the Sammamish Trail, as well as Alki, Cal Anderson Park and more. Folks of all skill levels are encouraged to sit down and play. And, you can also take a video of yourself playing, upload it to Facebook, and enter acontest. The winner will get the chance to play at KEXP’s music at the Mural event on August 22.

For more information and piano locations, press down on those ol’ computer keys and check out their site.
