Once your babe starts walking, he just don’t want to stop! But where can you take him to safely play? Many playgrounds can be intimidating to little ones who are just learning to walk, let alone go down the slide and climb up the stairs to the play structures. That’s why we did the legwork and rounded up eight parks where your toddling tyke can safely explore his or her newfound freedom. From toddler-friendly play sets to wide open spaces, click through the gallery to see our favorite spots to let the Littles play their heart’s out.
Mercerdale Park offers many attractive features for toddlers and their parental units. It’s home to a fun playground, complete with a choo-choo train for your little engineers, as well as a wooded area with short trails that give wee ones a taste of hiking in the outdoors. Bring balls to kick around the large grassy area or a trike to ride on the asphalt track. Grab a snack or take a break from the sunshine at the covered picnic area.
Good to Know: The Mercer Island Farmers Market convenes at the north end of the park on Sundays from June to October from 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
