Once your babe starts walking, he just don’t want to stop! But where can you take him to safely play? Many playgrounds can be intimidating to little ones who are just learning to walk, let alone go down the slide and climb up the stairs to the play structures. That’s why we did the legwork and rounded up eight parks where your toddling tyke can safely explore his or her newfound freedom. From toddler-friendly play sets to wide open spaces, click through the gallery to see our favorite spots to let the Littles play their heart’s out.

Meridian Playground

Located in the heart of Wallingford, Meridian Playground is a quiet neighborhood park. It contains a large grassy area for wandering and roaming and historic apple trees that provide lots of shade on a sunny day. In the middle of the orchard is where you will find a wonderful playground and playfields. The playground has play equipment for toddlers and big kids and the playfields are perfect places for kicking a soccer ball or letting your small fry run free.

Good to Know: Visit the Wallingford Farmers Market every Wednesday from 3:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m. from late May through late September.
