Once your babe starts walking, he just don’t want to stop! But where can you take him to safely play? Many playgrounds can be intimidating to little ones who are just learning to walk, let alone go down the slide and climb up the stairs to the play structures. That’s why we did the legwork and rounded up eight parks where your toddling tyke can safely explore his or her newfound freedom. From toddler-friendly play sets to wide open spaces, click through the gallery to see our favorite spots to let the Littles play their heart’s out.

Wallingford Playfield

Wallingford Playfield is the perfect summer destination. Experience two times the fun by playing at the playground and splashing in the wading pool. The play structure is specially-designed for two- to five-year-olds with a variety of slides, swings, climbing toys and the ever-popular digger. The entire park is fenced-in, so you can let your mini-me play with some peace of mind. Psst! This park is sunshiny and doesn’t offer any shade, so slather on the sunscreen or save your visit for a cloudier day.

Good to Know: For the 2017 season, the Wallingford Playfield Wading Pool is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from noon– 7 p.m. through August 18.
