As a parent, there never seems to be enough hours in the day. Your New Year’s resolution was to make some time for yourself, but “me time” and “babysitter-availability” don’t always magically occur at the same time…until now. Queen Anne Hill is Seattle’s latest hotspot with a brand-new drop off child care facility from the folks at Urban Kids Play …aptly named The Play Space. Located in the same charming cottage that also houses Urban Kids Play toy store, The Play Space is fresh and cheerful with plenty of fun things to do for kids ages 2.5 – 10. The owners (also Queen Anne parents) saw a huge demand for drop-off childcare in the neighborhood and decided to fill it. Parents can drop off their kiddos where they’ll be entertained in the manner of Waldorf-inspired teaching. Toys here encourage open-ended play and creativity (think eco-friendly Plan Toys, blocks, dress-up clothes, a cozy reading room, and plenty of art supplies) while movement time might include yoga, dancing, woodworking, or an obstacle course. In the spring, they’ll fence in the courtyard for outdoor play in the garden.
With The Play Space located smack in the heart of Queen Anne, parents can enjoy shopping, dining out, or yoga classes literally just steps away…or they can even head Downtown for a meeting. Little ones can stay for a max of four hours (kids still in diapers may stay for 2 hours). So, no more excuses…get that “me time” on your calendar and remember, just like your fave bistro down the street, The Play Space recommends a reservation!
