It’s the last weekend of August and we have back-to-school on the brain. This week, there’s something fun for everyone at The Evergreen State Fair. From concerts, races, and a rodeo to animal judging, exhibitors, and carnival rides. And don’t forget about Clouded Leopard Awareness Weekend at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. Meet the newest clouded leopard cubs (pictured) and enjoy lots of leopard themed excitement including scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, obstacle courses, and special story times.


Back to School BBQ & Jazz Festival
Celebrate the upcoming school year with a fun community get together at Annie’s Playground. Listen to tunes by the Meadowbrook Jazz Ensemble, meet new friends and neighbors, jump in the bouncy house, and enjoy a yummy barbecue dinner. Fri., 6:00 pm. Seattle. Free. All Ages. Event details.

Big Day of Play
Here’s a great way to get the whole fam active and teach your kiddos the importance of eating healthy foods. This all-day event will include fitness demonstrations, information booths, a 5K run/walk, 3-on-3 basketball, healthy food samples and demonstrations, and live entertainment. Again, From the Top!
You don’t want to miss this fun tongue-in-cheek circus performance by the staff at SANCA. Watch as the cast and crew frantically prepare for a dress rehearsal of Cirque N’importe Quoi and see what goes on (or goes wrong!) behind the curtain. The show will include a variety of traditional and modern circus arts including tightwire, unicycle, Russian bar, aerial arts, juggling, crazy office chair acrobatics, and much more! Seattle Mariners Kids Rock and Ball with Casper Babypants
Join Red Tricycle as we take in a concert before the ball game! The Presidents of the United States lead singer, Chris Ballew, is the force behind kindie rock sensation Casper Babypants, and here is a great opportunity to see him live, and catch the Mariners vs. White Sox game! Rattlesnake Lakeside Nightlife Hike
Venture out during dusk and explore the trails of Rattlesnake Lake while learning about wild nightlife. This half-mile hike will follow easy going trails; perfect for small feet. DigiPen Day
Take the kidddos to the DigiPen Institute of Technology for a super-fun day of playing, creating, and exploring the world of art and gaming. Dizzy’s Bus Stop Carnival
Come have loads of fun at this annual carnival and help raise money for Dizzy’s scholarship program. Kiddos can play on the Tumblebus, jump in the bouncy houses, and go on a train ride.
