Summer is in full swing and with it comes plenty of family-friendly activities to keep you and the kiddos busy, busy, busy! Our lineup of fun includes a weekend-long cultural festival, a huge summertime parade, a Japanese festival with fab entertainment, a pool party with a Hawaiian twist, a fragrant farm celebration, and a rockin’ concert inspired by some crazy hairdos. If you’re looking for a festival with awesome grub, hit the annual Groupon Bite of Seattle (pictured) at the Seattle Center. This three-day food extravaganza will feature “bites” from more than 50 local restaurants as well as plenty of live entertainment, a Family Fun Zone, chef demos, and lots of food product samples.

Seafair Indian Pow Wow
See hundreds of dancers in full regalia and more than 20 drum groups at this popular Seafair festival. Plus, enjoy delish food and a wide array of Native American arts and crafts including jewelry, carvings, intricate beadwork, artwork and more. West Seattle Grand Parade
This annual parade has all the bells and whistles of the Torchlight Parade, but without the crowds and parking chaos. Grab a curbside seat along California Ave. and see clowns, marching bands, drill teams, and plenty of community floats plus those wild and crazy Seafair Pirates and Seafair Clowns. Sat., 11:00 am (Kiddie Parade starts at 10:00 am). Seattle. Free. All ages. Event details.

Bon Odori Festival
This annual summertime festival (and Seafair tradition) will feature Japanese music, dress and dancing, fab food booths, Taiko demonstrations, and craft exhibits. Sat., 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm; Sun., 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Seattle. Free. All ages. Event details.

Eastside

Luau Pool Party
Dress in your best Hawaiian attire and take the fam to Peter Kirk Pool for an Aloha-themed pool party. After you catch a wave, enjoy pool games, arts and crafts, and lots of Hawaiian music. Space is limited so arrive early. Fri., 5:30 – 8:00 pm. Kirkland. $4/person. All ages. Event details.

Lavender Celebration at Dr. Maze’s
This farm-tastic event will include lots of fresh lavender products and plant starts plus hayrides, mazes, tractor rides, farm animals, rubber ducky races, and tons of farm fun for the little ones. Redmond Town Center Family Concert
We can’t think of a better way to enjoy the weekend than with a free concert put on by Hairstorm—Seattle’s premier 80’s hair rock tribute band. Take in this lively and highly melodic performance and then enjoy everything RTC has to offer. Sat., 4:00 pm. Redmond. Free. All ages. Event details.
