Kick off summer with your kids with this weekend’s family-friendly events and activities. On our radar: a hands-on event for future firefighters, a show for hot rods, a fun family day in the park, an annual sidewalk sale, a sweet festival, and a party with pigs, horses, and dogs! Calling all wanna-be firefighters! Here’s your chance to tour dozens of fire and rescue vehicles, climb aboard a fire engine, see how tall an aerial ladder extends, and talk with real firefighter heroes. Greenwood Car Show
Hundreds of hot rods and roadsters will fill Greenwood Avenue for this annual car show. Stroll the mile-and-a-half long stretch and see over 700 cars from all eras, plus vintage hydroplanes and a fire engine display. NW National Park Family Day
Here’s a great way to introduce your kiddos to national parks, outdoor family activities, and conservation. Learn how to set up a tent and cook outdoors, meet Teddy Mather (the NPCA mascot), go on a nature hike with the fam, and listen to presentations by park rangers. Redmond Town Center Arts Festival
This annual sidewalk sale and arts festival has plenty of activities for the kiddos as well as something for Mom and Dad. Shop for locally handmade crafts, enjoy great food, music, and entertainment, and score some great bargains from RTC merchants. Bellevue Strawberry Festival
There’s no shortage of fun at this annual festival which features lots of entertainment for the kiddies (think clowns, music, and balloons!), an auto show, arts and crafts vendors and plenty of strawberry themed food. Party In The Park
Start your day off with a pancake breakfast and a 5K or 10K family race. Then, kick back and relax while watching animal performances by Valentine’s Performing Pigs, equestrian drill teams, miniature horses, and some super-talented pups.
