In honor of National Get Outdoors Day (which happens to fall on Saturday), we’ve put together a great lineup of events to get you and your crew out and about. Consider: a family festival on the water, an annual Swedish celebration, a 5k fundraiser with your four-legged friend and a mountain bike extravaganza. If you’re looking for even more excitement, explore a Washington state park for free, take in the annual Vashon Sheepdog Classic or hit the 2018 Springfree Trampoline NW Kids Fair. Shilshole Boatfest: Seas the Bay! (pictured)
Want to venture into the world of boating but don’t know where to start? This fun family event will feature tons of free activities both on and off the water. Take a sailboat or powerboat ride, try your hand at kayaking or paddleboarding, watch a Seattle fire boat display and enjoy live music, vendor booths and delish food trucks. For the kiddies, there will be plenty of sea-themed activities, a bouncy house and even kids’ mini sailing lessons. Sat. Event details.

World Ocean Weekend
Take your crew to the Seattle Aquarium to celebrate the world’s one big ocean and to learn how to be an ocean hero! There will be a variety of hands-on activities and special demonstrations, plus diver shows, story times, games, special feedings and more. Sat.-Sun. Event details.

Seattle Furry 5K
Lace up your tennies, grab your jogging stroller and join other Seattle families and their four-legged friends at The Seattle Animal Shelter’s 19th Annual Furry 5K. In addition to the three-mile run/walk, there will be a Pet-a-Palooza where you can visit vendor booths, learn about pet products and service companies, watch amazing dogs demonstrate their talents and enter your pooch in contests. Evergreen Mountain Bike Festival (pictured)
Take the fam to King County’s Duthie Hill Park to join riders of all ages and abilities for this annual, two-day festival. In addition to more than 50 vendors, test ride bikes from some of the top brands, participate in bike skills clinics, watch pros huck in the Jump Show and enjoy riding demos, raffle prizes, special kids’ events (both on and off bikes), food concessions and the chance to check out the latest mountain biking gear. Who’s in Your Backyard: Big Animals
From black bears to mountain lions, the Pacific Northwest is home to quite a few big furry creatures. Come to the ranger station to learn what large animals live in and around Bellevue and what to do if you see them. Sat. Event details.

Vasa Park’s Midsummer Festival
This annual Swedish celebration, marking the start of summer, will include tons of family fun. In addition to Swedish dancers, singers and the famous midsummer maypole wrapping, there will be pony rides, face painting, a bouncy house and old-time children’s races and games.
