The Emerald City is bursting with Irish pride this weekend! From parades to festivals to family fun runs, there’s a little something for everyone! Consider: a two-day Irish celebration, a race specifically designed for wee lads and lassies, a parade with lotsa green, a run with a lucky leprechaun, a crafty day at BAM, and a super-stylish fashion show. Also on tap: Pacific Northwest Ballet’s brand new production of Snow White, Ballard Co-op Preschool’s annual Gently Used Kids Gear Sale, and Nuclear Cowboyz–a super-cool theatrical freestyle motocross show for adrenaline seekers both young and old!


Irish Festival at the Seattle Center
Celebrate your Irish heritage at this annual celebration featuring non-stop Irish music, dance, art, and cultural displays as well as Irish/Celtic vendor booths, children’s contests and activities, Irish short films, and educational workshops and lectures. St. Patrick’s Day Dash
Put on your best Irish duds and celebrate the arrival of spring by running, walking or jogging the annual St. Patrick’s Day Dash. This family-friendly race (now in its 27th year!) covers nearly four miles under the shadow of the Space Needle. In addition to the Dash, kiddos (ages 10 and under) can participate in the half mile Leprechaun Lap as well as activities and costume contests at the Post Dash Bash. Sat., 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. St. Patrick’s Day Parade (pictured)
Rain or shine get your green on at this annual St. Patty’s Day parade! Grab a curbside seat and see marching bands, bagpipers, pirates, drill teams, and Irish dancers travel between 4th Avenue and Jefferson Street and the Seattle Center. Plus, catch a free ride on the Monorail between 1:30 and 2:30 pm and take the wee ones to the closing ceremonies at the Seattle Center. Sat., 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm (closing ceremonies start at 2:00 pm). St. Patty’s Day Dash
If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate the Irish holiday on the Eastside, check out Samena’s 3rd Annual St. Patty’s Day Dash! Activities include a 5K run on the trails surrounding the Lake Hills area, a 1K kid’s course, awards for the most spirited costumes, photos with Lucky the Samena Leprechaun, and post-race snacks and drinks. Get Crafty Saturdays
Take the kiddos to BAM and let them get creative with items that are often lost and found (think buttons, keys, and pens!). Find your creative inspiration at the Making Mends exhibit and then use a wide range of materials to make a work of art that is meaningful to you. Sat., 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Bellevue. $2. Ages 4 to 12. American Girl Fashion Show
The American Girl Fashion Show is an annual tradition and a major fundraiser for Seattle Children’s Hospital. This event, organized by Star Guild, will include an interactive and stylish showcase of historical and contemporary fashions by American Girl, a marketplace to purchase American Girl items, a raffle, silent auction, fun take-home treasures, and much more!
