Leave it to a Seattle mom to create a truly family-friendly café. Rebecca Pelletier longed for a stylish space where she could enjoy hanging out with other moms that also offered a proper play structure for kids. Because it didn’t exist, she decided to build it. There’s no doubt that Twirl Cafe, which opens on Oct. 9 in Queen Anne, is going to be packed from the get-go, because it offers a little bit of everything a mom could ask: coffee, pastries, sandwiches, soups, salads, a kid menu, yoga classes for kids, mom-fitness classes, and a Kidtropolis-designed play area.

The play area has a jungle-themed tree house that the kids will love and there are two adjacent bar-seating spots for parents. On Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon, there will be a childcare supervisor on duty to watch children for moms who are attending scheduled fitness or parenting classes. Otherwise, the tree house is available for open play ($5 with purchase).

The adults also can congregate in the front lounge on the couches or at one of the five tables along the banquette. For the grand opening on Oct. 9, there will be face painting, live music, a raffle and other grand opening activities. Twirl on in for some guaranteed fun.
