We’re wrapping up the last weekend of April with a healthy dose of family fun. On our radar: an awesome cultural celebration, a rockin’ mashup of music and puppetry, a sweet dash around Green Lake and a farm-tastic event at Kelsey Creek Farm. If you’ve got a little super hero wannabe, make your way to MoPOP to see MARVEL: Universe of Super Heroes, an exhibit featuring original artifacts, costumes and props from comics and films such as Captain America and The Avengers. Read on to learn more and to see what else is happening.

World Rhythm Festival
This annual three-day festival will be jam-packed with musical goodness. In addition to more than 100 performances, kids can build their own percussion instruments and perform in a drum circle, participate in family workshops, enjoy an international market and much more. Fri-Sun. Event details.

Town Hall Saturday Family Concerts
Take your crew to the Phinney Neighborhood Association to see The Pop Ups. The rock ‘n roll puppet musical duo’s catchy, light-hearted style is sure to get your kids up and dancing. Top Pot Doughnut Dash (pictured)
Lace up your tennies, dust off your jogging stroller and join other Seattle families for this annual fundraiser benefitting Childhaven. In addition to the 5K run/walk, there will be a half-mile dash for mini doughnut lovers, awards and prizes at the finish line, a rockin’ concert with Caspar Babypants and, of course, free Top Pot Doughnuts for all registered participants. Sun. Event details.

The Wizard of Oz
In this latest BYT production, watch your favorite characters from the classic tale come to life on stage (think: Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion). Suitable for the whole family, this musical will include hit tunes such as “Follow the Yellow Brick Road,” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Fri.-Sun. (through May 12). Event details.

Sheep Shearing at Kelsey Creek Farm Park
This annual event will be loaded with farm fun! See sheep shearing demonstrations, participate in hands-on farm activities and enjoy tractor-pulled hay rides, animal exhibits, pony rides, inflatables, food and more. Sat. Event details.

In this latest StoryBook Theater production neither long locks of hair nor large locks on towers are enough to keep a rainbow-haired maiden from trying to follow her dreams. Can the hair-oine learn to follow directions so she can escape her tiny room-with-a-view, or will she be trapped in her tower forever? You’ll have to see the show to find out. Sat.-Sun. Event details.
