We’re wrapping up May and kicking off June with lots of family fun. For starters, we have an awesome storytime with local celebs, a beach adventure for the whole fam, and a hands-on event with big rigs. We also have a popular family festival along the water, an early morning race with the dogs, and a farm-tastic summer celebration. If you’re in need of spring and summer items for the kids, be sure to hit the always popular Jack & Jill Consignment Sale. This ginormous sale not only features thousands of gently used kids’ items and some new items, but services and items made by local moms. Shop ’til you drop!
First Book – Seattle Storytime
At this special all ages storytime, book lovers (big and small) can celebrate their love of reading with First Book. Prominent local figures including children’s authors, sports stars and Ride the Duck Captain Bjorn Toorun will read their fave childhood books and celebrate the power of a child’s first book. Family Beach Safari at Me-Kwa-Mooks
Take the fam to this awesome beach in West Seattle to enjoy some of the best low tides of the year. Join a Seattle volunteer naturalist to look for amazing marine creatures, intertidal plants, and to learn a bit of beach ecology. Sat., 12:15 p.m.– 1:45 p.m. Seattle. Free. All ages. Event details.
4th Annual Touch-A-Truck
At this annual event, kids will get a hands-on opportunity to explore heavy machinery including construction and utility vehicles, tractor trailers and emergency responders as well as meet the people who build, protect, and serve our community, and participate in fun games and activities. Edmonds Rotary Waterfront Festival
We know this event isn’t exactly on the Eastside, but it’s too good not to mention. At this annual waterfront festival, enjoy live entertainment, arts and crafts, food vendors, and a yacht show, plus tons of activities for the kiddies including face painting, inflatable rides, a rock wall, pony rides, and a gigantic slide. Big Backyard 5k
Round up the fam and Fido and head over to Marymoor Park to participate in this annual race benefiting King County Parks. In addition to the 3 mile run/walk and 1/4 mile Kids Dash, enjoy post race festivities and free goodies for you and your four-legged friend. Camp Korey Family Day
Learn about the Camp Korey program at Carnation Farm by experiencing it first-hand. This community summer kick-off celebration will include an afternoon of fun camp activities including a camp-wide scavenger hunt, face painting, arts and crafts, planting and gardening activities, and entertainment.
