It’s the last full weekend of summer, so get outside and soak it all up. This weekend’s roundup includes a pop-up park extravaganza, an annual fall festival, an event with lots of creepy crawlers, an activity for lil’ swashbucklers, a race around the lake and a fish-tastic tour in Issaquah. Also this weekend: catch the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions or hit The Great Wallingford Wurst Festival for tons of Oktoberfest-style fun and a rockin’ concert with Recess Monkey.

Park(ing) Day Plus+
This fun event happens only once a year, but this year falls right in the middle of the 2016 Seattle Design Festival so it’s been expanded into a two-day event. Explore more than 50 pop-up parks around the city (think street parking spaces temporarily turned into public places) while helping to raise awareness about the importance of walkable, livable and healthy communities. Psst… many of the parks will offer fun activities like life-sized games, story telling and entertainment. Fri.-Sat. Event details.

Holy Rosary WestFest
This annual community fall festival, in the heart of West Seattle, will feature tons of fun activities. Enjoy inflatables, live entertainment, carnival-style booth games, food and a beer garden, plus a climbing wall, face painting, raffle prizes, cake walk and more. Fri.-Sat. Event details.

Bug Blast (pictured)
Get your bug on at this annual event at the Burke Museum. Go eye-to-eye with bugs and spiders, see a honeycomb with live bees and a transparent ant nest. Then, examine bugs of all kinds from the Burke’s collections, try some buggy snacks and touch a tarantula or a cockroach. Sun. Event details.

Pirate Day at Country Village Shops
Ahoy, mateys! Put on yer best pirate garb, head to Country Village Shops and follow the clues on the treasure map to solve the mystery and enter to win the grand prize. As you’re hunting for clues, enjoy plenty of pirate-themed fun as well as delish grub and a special visit from the Pirates of Treasure Island. Sat. Event details.

Round the Rock
Now in its 8th year of sharing the thrills and excitement of SUP boarding in the Pacific Northwest, this friendly competition and celebration will take place at its new location at beautiful Newcastle Beach Park. In addition to the 13-mile race, enjoy free SUP boarding demos, a Kids Race, an awards ceremony, food trucks and entertainment. Sat. Event details.
