Sole Food
If you’re a firm believer that your little one’s feet deserve the best of the best, then head to Sole Food in University Village, which is more of a shoe boutique than a shoe store. Sole Food carries everything from boots to tennis shoes to sandals to dress shoes, plus awesome socks and tights to match! We especially love the space at Sole Food – lots of room to give those new shoes a test run and a big bucket of trucks to play with while you pay (and browse the cute adult shoe selection too!).

REI
Northwest parents know that sending their kids off to school means that recess will go on, rain or shine, puddles will be jumped in and walks home after school in the infamous Seattle-drizzle are status quo. For kids who need a pair of high-quality outdoor shoes for heading back to school, REI has them covered. They carry all of the best brands that will keep your little ones tootsies warm, comfortable and dry this fall. At the downtown Seattle location, reward them with a trip to the tree house and a smoothie (located next to the children’s section) for being patient. REI also has locations in Alderwood, Issaquah, Redmond, Southcenter and Tacoma.

Nordstrom Drawing Board-002

Nordstrom
Hands down one of the best shoe departments in the Seattle area is at the Bellevue Square Nordstrom – not only do they carry every style and brand imaginable, but the employees are great with kids – even those extra squirmy ones who have no interest in shoe shopping! And free balloons and interactive drawing boards (to keep kiddos busy during the shoe buying process) makes the trip across the bridge totally worth it. Additional locations: Downtown Seattle, Northgate, Alderwood, and Southcenter.

The Sneakery
With two locations, Ballard and West Seattle, The Sneakery stocks brands that you love (and so do your kids) like Puma, Saucony Originals, Converse, Adidas, Toms, See Kai Run and DC Shoes. In addition to shoes, you’ll find a well-stocked supply of socks that are funky, fuzzy and just plain fun. How about pirate themed socks and laces for the first day of kindergarten? If your kiddo needs some new boots, you’ll also find a huge variety of wellies, because the owner knows Seattle kids love to splash in puddles when it rains.
