It’s not always easy to treat your kids to a homemade dessert during the busy holiday season, but we have a solution for you: a crock pot dessert. Pop the ingredients into the slow cooker in the morning, and by dinnertime, this Nutella Bread Pudding will be perfectly done. Served with vanilla ice cream on the side, you and your kids will be in chocolate heaven.
8 cups cubed day-old bread
1/4 cup butter, melted
3 tsp chocolate chips
4 large eggs
1-1/2 cups skim milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup Nutella
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1. Spray crock pot with cooking spray. Place the bread cubes in the pot.
2. In a small glass measuring cup, melt the butter and chocolate chips in a microwave for 30-45 seconds on high. Set aside to cool slightly. Mix all of the remaining ingredients in a large bowl. Add the melted butter and chocolate mixture to the bowl, and whisk vigorously to combine until the mixture is smooth.
3. Pour the custard over the bread cubes, and gently press the bread (do not stir) until all of the cubes have absorbed the custard.
4. Cook on low for 3 hours. Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
