Sometimes we hate playing the bad guy when our kid begs us for just one…more…bite…of chocolate because after all, don’t we want one more nibble, too? Play good cop for the day and indulge your hankering for everything chocolate at Chi Chocolat in Liberty Station. Jesse and Tess Brown’s sweet chocolate shop will have you and your kids singing the praises of chocolate, while you get your coffee fix too. Does it get any better than chocolate and coffee? We don’t think so.
Whether serving up traditional favorites like chocolate covered strawberries or exotic inspirations like dark chocolate infused with jasmine tea or curry powder, Chi Chocolat’s artisanal creations feature culinary artistry, high-quality ingredients and a “no nasties” approach—processed, unpronounceable ingredients are not allowed.

Their best seller, the Tien – a dark chocolate ganache infused with burnt caramel and sea salt – will tickle your taste buds until they cry for mercy. And, did you know that chocolate is actually a fruit? Oh, and high quality chocolate with 60% or higher cacao content has more healthy nutritional components than any other fruit! It’s true– Google it!
Java for the Mama
Chi offers a great range of espresso beverages, but naturally they are most known for their chocolate ones – mochas, chocolate chills and spiced chocolate drinks. Take away any tough decisions and get the mocha for the best of both coffee and chocolate worlds.

There’s Grub Too
In case you are still hungry after your chocolate treats, grab their “underground lunch”. What’s that you ask? It is whatever the kitchen is catering that day. You can bet they remain true to their mission of high quality, unprocessed ingredients.
A Truly Special Treat
Owners Jesse and Tess Brown know how every kid would love the chance to go inside Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, and they satisfy that childhood craving with their chocolate lesson. Call ahead to set up a lesson with Jesse who is a fantastic and enthusiastic teacher. He will have your children in love with everything chocolate (like mother, like child) as he teaches them how chocolate begins growing on trees and can end up shaped like an elephant with edible dragonflies on it.
