When nothing but a delicious cupcake will satisfy your sweet tooth (or quiet your kids), Cups in La Jolla is at your rescue. However, this eco-friendly cupcakery delivers San Diego parents more than just delicious baked goods. Cups also provides families with party solutions, fun and free time.
Cupcakes: First and foremost, Cups makes delicious cupcakes in a variety of flavors using local, sustainable, organic ingredients. Flavors like Vanilla Vixen are available daily, but check the online schedule to see when other festive options, such as S’mores or Limone Ricotta, are available for your eating pleasure. Cupcakes are available in full size ($4) or minis ($2). If frosting is your thing, order a side shot ($.75) for an increased sugar high.
For those with dietary restrictions: Cups offers San Diego’s widest variety of cupcakes suitable for those with special dietary needs. They have vegan, low glycemic, gluten-free and dairy-free flavors. At least one cupcake in each of these categories is available daily. Want more? Give Cups two days notice and they’ll whip up two dozen cupcakes in your favorite flavor to enjoy at home.
Kids parties: Put your apron back in the drawer and use Cups for your next party. Sure, they can provide cupcakes for under the birthday candles, but you can actually have the party at Cups too. Spare your house, and invite the kids to the Cups swanky greenroom where they have a full sound/video system that’s perfect for sing-a-longs, karaoke or just a fun dance party. Kids can help bake and decorate cupcakes or just socialize. The choice is yours.
Kids cooking classes: Every so often, Cups has classes where kids can help bake treats with mom in their state-of-the-art kitchen. Mom and Dad should check the class schedule too for opportunities to learn from San Diego’s culinary experts, in a hands-on environment.
A date night solution: La Jolla boasts some of the best restaurants in San Diego. With monthly date night drop-off child care at Cups, parents have no excuse not to enjoy a night out. Kids watch a G-rated movie while decorating cupcakes. No doubt, this arrangement is win-win for the entire family. Children must be 5 or older and the cost is $30 per child.
Low carbon footprint: Cups is San Diego’s only 3-Star Green Certified Bakery. Design enthusiasts will marvel at the gorgeous recycled glass countertops and other contemporary, yet eco-friendly, materials used during construction. Ingredients are sourced locally with some herbs grown right in front of the store. Even the cupcake holders are made from 100% compostable corn. No guilt here, other than perhaps a few extra calories.
