The summer reading programs may have ended, but that’s no excuse to stop visiting your local library! Get ready to dive back into books with your kids. The whole family can curl up and enjoy story time together for free at these San Diego libraries. Kids don’t have to be school-age to enjoy reading, either. Click through the slideshow to check out these spots that have a variety of programs for kids of all ages, infant to teen!

Rancho Santa Fe Public Library

The Rancho Santa Fe Public Library offers different kid activities and story times nearly every day of the week. Each class is geared toward different age groups with age appropriate books, stories, and songs. Story times are subject to change, so be sure to check their website or give the library a call to get the current schedule for each month.

For ages 0-2: Book Babies Storytime incorporates story time with song and movements to encourage babies to experience the stories with all of their senses and engage in learning with their parents.

For ages 1-3: Toddlers and their parents can enjoy Toddler Story time together, as they listen to stories, look at picture books, and enjoy learning fun, new songs together.

For ages 3-5: Preschool Storytime is an introduction for kids into learning how to read. Stories are read aloud, and kids have the chance to ask questions and interact with what they see on the pages. Parents are encouraged to attend as well and enjoy reading, singing, and moving together.

For all ages: Kids of all ages will enjoy reading time with man (and kid’s) best friend at the library’s Love on a Leash Program. Kids of reading age can read to canines at the library, while younger parents can enjoy parent-led reading time with their dog.
