Everyone knows that date night is important. But it’s not always easy to find a babysitter or the time to make it work. So why not make date night a family affair and take the kids along with you? Family date night is a great way to enjoy each other without the mess and stress of home. San Diego has some awesome spots that will make you want to date your family more often.

La Bella Café & Games
If you’re in the mood for excellent pizza and fun games, this is the place! Located in downtown Chula Vista, this family-owned restaurant and arcade has plenty for both kids and adults to enjoy. You’ll feel at home in the main dining section’s cozy atmosphere and the Italian food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Pizza is their specialty and La Bella has a wide variety of flavors. You can also mix and match toppings, so that even picky eaters can get exactly what they want. For those wanting to try a bit of everything, La Bella Café also offers a couple of different family style dinner options that feeds four or five people. One great price will get you an appetizer, drinks, pizza and pasta. Don’t overlook their delicious desserts, either!

Kids will definitely want to check out the game parlor afterwards. There are arcade games galore, and you don’t even need quarters. Just purchase an Eat, Drink and Play Card (you decide how much money goes on it), and kiddos can play until it’s time to cash in the points at the prize counter. Parents and kids can also entertain themselves with the pool tables, pinball machines, dart boards and more.

National Comedy Theatre
San Diego’s own National Comedy Theatre is a fun and energetic show in the heart of Mission Hills. This is an improv comedy show, similar in style to “Who’s Line is it Anyway” and features professional comedians. Scenes are performed based on audience suggestions, making for a unique, interactive experience. Kids will love being part of the show and it may even spark an interest in standup comedy.

Every show is different and just as hilarious as the last one. Best of all, the shows feature clean humor and are appropriate for all ages. be sure to plan ahead and buy your tickets before arriving at the theater since many of the shows sell out fast.

Parking can be a bit difficult, so be sure to arrive early. Grab a sweet treat before the show at Gelato Vero Caffe or dine at the nearby El Indio for some excellent Mexican food.
