Love the water but looking to throw something new into the mix of your usual beach spots? How about a massive aquatic park that you don’t even have to leave town to visit? If so, it’s about time you packed the kiddos into the car and headed over to Mission Bay Park. This park has just about every kind of activity that kids can think of–biking paths, warm sandy beaches, picnic areas to run around in, and even a place to bring their pets. Mission Bay Park is also host to several summer festivals and events this summer, so mark your calendars and don’t forget the sunblock!
Surround Mission Bay Park is a long, leisurely 14 mile bike path. Along the path you will see people walking their dogs, running, enjoying the morning newspaper and coffee, and of course, plenty of kids riding bikes. Located at various points along the path are inlets where restrooms, picnic tables, and barbecue facilities await the next family to come and post up for the day.
And let’s not forget swimming. With 19 miles of sandy beaches, Mission Bay Park has plenty of places to swim and to explore in the water. No doubt your kids will be spending most their time splashing around, so be sure to check out the list of park facilities to map out which areas of the park are monitored by lifeguards.
