Feel like embarking on a new adventure with your pint-sized pal while doing good around town? San Diego has a bunch of cool and unique volunteer opportunities that will inspire and delight. We’re talking about a lesson on river bugs, protecting wild birds, planting a sustainable garden, walking for cancer, or even helping out around a horse ranch! Click through the slideshow for five volunteer opportunities the whole family will enjoy.

American Cancer Society

We know kids love to celebrate birthdays. How about encouraging them to join the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, the world’s largest event to end cancer? San Diegans can come together to celebrate those who are fighting cancer, and remember others who lost their battle. Walking the track with your tiny birthday baller helps to raise awareness and dollars for research and services. In spirit of birthdays, your family can walk the track with balloons or wear party hats.  Afterward, treat your family to a birthday cake with candles in honor of family and friends who are battling cancer or with as many candles as laps completed.
