Living in Southern California, we’re pretty blessed when it comes to sunny skies and umbrella-free days, allowing for lots of outdoor play. Still, there are the occasional overcast and rainy days when kids need some indoor action to keep them busy and entertained. Stay dry and have fun as you check out these awesome indoor spots for school-aged kids.
Jump, Flip, and Joust at Rockin Jump
Rockin Jump is the perfect destination for those with endless energy- kids can literally bounce off the walls! This indoor trampoline park also features dodgeball, a Slam Dunk Zone, Stunt Bag Arena, X-Beam Jousting, and a rock climbing wall. Adults can jump in on the fun too, or relax in the café or lounge while enjoying free Wi-Fi. Open jump time starts at $10 per jumper, plus $2.50 to purchase a pair of reusable no-slip socks.
Game On at Nickel City
If your kids love video games but need a break from the iPad, head over to Nickel City for an awesome arcade experience. Almost three times the size of their old location, Nickel City has all the latest and greatest games plus classics like Pac-Man and Frogger. Kids will have a blast collecting tickets and redeeming them for cool prizes. Admission is $2.25 per person and bags of nickels can be purchased for $5-10, or better yet, have the kiddos save up their allowance and bring in their own nickels from home.

Bounce Around at Pump It Up
What kid doesn’t love a bouncy house? Now picture two huge rooms filled with bouncy houses of all shapes and sizes, complete with slides and obstacles galore. At Pump It Up, kids are guaranteed to work up a sweat as they burn off excess energy in this inflatable paradise. With three locations throughout San Diego, this popular birthday party destination offers “Open Jump” times, usually on weekday afternoons and some weekends. Check their online calendar for location and open jump times. Admission is $10/child (ages 10 and under); socks are required for all jumpers.

Ready, Set, GO at K1 Speed
If your kids have a need for speed, they can start their engines at one of K1 Speed’s two locations in Southern California: Downtown San Diego and Carlsbad. Both locations are open rain or shine, 7 days a week. Either call ahead for a reservation or their Junior Arrive and Drive package is first come first serve, featuring a 12-lap Junior Race. All kiddos must be 48 inches tall to take a spin in their Junior-sized electric go carts – especially made with seat belts, roll bars and automatic shut off. The cost for one 12-lap race is $19.99, or add on a $7 annual registration fee and you’ll get free use of helmet and helmet sock for the whole year.

Jump, Race, and Climb at Urban Jungle
This East County hotspot has become quite the favorite indoor play space for kids. Urban Jungle is filled with adrenaline-filled activities for all ages. Bounce around or play dodgeball in the trampoline court, scale up a 24 ft. mini-skyscraper, race through the obstacle course, zoom down the multi-lane super slide, dance in a life-sized video game, and much more. Kids will love the variety and never run our things to do! Parents can chill out in of the lounges with massage chairs, free Wi-Fi and mobile charging stations. Prices start at $10/hour on weekdays, $12 on weekends, plus $2.50 for grippy socks.

Batter Up at Brickyard Cages
Take a swing at Brickyard Cages, San Diego’s top indoor baseball and softball center. Whether your kiddo is a seasoned pro or a first-timer, Brickyard Cages has something for everyone. There are 6 cages total offering customizable speed pitches between 35-90 mph, a “Pro Model” machine for curveballs and sliders, and a slowpitch/fastpitch softball cage. Prices start at $18 for 20 minutes or save money with a 5-visit package. Bats and helmets are included, and lessons and camps are also available.
