The first time you held hands while roller skating, the song was probably something by Air Supply or Olivia Newton John. These days, it might be Ariana Grande and Iggy Izalea. Regardless of whatever generation gap may be present, your kids will definitely want in on some skating fun. San Diego has a variety of kid-friendly skating rinks for both the roller and ice aficionados. Flip through the slideshow to see what’s in store for your little skaters.

4S Ranch Sports Park

While you won't get the retro tunes or the occasionally funky costumes, this 4S Ranch roller-hockey rink (located next to the Boys & Girls Club) is something aspiring hockey players and outdoor lovers will appreciate. While you're there, be sure to check out the other scenic amenities here, which include a gorgeous park, five baseball fields, five soccer fields, two tennis courts, and two basketball courts. Volunteer coaches run a youth hockey clinic every Saturday for kids ages 5 - 17. For only $25, kids can be involved in this 10-week program that involves skill development, team building, and, ultimately, scrimmaging.
