The first time you held hands while roller skating, the song was probably something by Air Supply or Olivia Newton John. These days, it might be Ariana Grande and Iggy Izalea. Regardless of whatever generation gap may be present, your kids will definitely want in on some skating fun. San Diego has a variety of kid-friendly skating rinks for both the roller and ice aficionados. Flip through the slideshow to see what’s in store for your little skaters.

The Salvation Army Kroc Center

San Diego's centrally-located ice skating rink offers ice skating sessions, learn to skate classes, learn to play hockey classes, drop in hockey, youth in-house hockey, and even broomball. The Salvation Army Kroc Center rink has staff available at all times, which is great when the rink gets a bit crowded with eager skaters. The prices are reasonable: $10 for admission and skate rental, and $7 for after-school skating. But don't worry if you can't make it during the week, the $7 Sunday Skating is a great deal for admission and skate rental at a super low price.
