Even with the AC on full blast, staying cool in the summer can be quite the challenge. To keep from going stir crazy while trying to beat the heat, grab a swimsuit and head to a local splash park to cool off the fun way. Your kids will appreciate the time outside, and you’ll love the built in entertainment. The best part? They’re completely free! Read on for our five splash park picks in the OC that are perfect for keeping you and your brood cool all summer long.

After finishing up some summer reading at the Irvine Heritage Park Library next door, you can head over the Irvine Heritage Park to feed ducks around the lake, lunch at the shaded gazebo and enjoy some water play in the splash park.  It is located right next to the playground so the kids can run back and forth to cool down after climbing and sliding down the play structure.  It’s a fun and memorable way to spend a summer afternoon indoors and outdoors.
