Lake Poway Hiking & Boating

Whether you’re looking to lace up your hiking boots or get some cardio on the lake, Lake Poway is a beautiful spot to get your blood pumping. Rent a pedal or row boat by the hour for a great workout on the water.

Landlubbers hoping for a moderate hike will get a good family workout along the Lake Poway Loop Trail. The 2.5 mile hike around Lake Poway offers well maintained wide dirt trails that are well marked and dog-friendly. You’ll encounter some steep spots along the way, but a few benches with gorgeous views of the lake are a gratifying payoff. Be sure to come prepared. Sturdy walking shoes, hats, sunscreen and plenty of water are a must to enjoy this sunny path with little shade.

Insider’s Tip: Making nature your gym means you get the bonus of seeing wildlife along the way including squirrels, insects, lizards, hummingbirds and hawks. Be aware of rattlesnake safety before you go.

Parking fee: $10 for non-residents; free for Poway residents
