Connect With Nature

San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve offers the perfect setting to take kiddos on an easy hike. The reserve is part of the national Kids in Parks program. This awesome program provides parents with self-guided brochures that can be downloaded from home and taken on short hikes called Track Trails (less than 1 mile) to help create a sense of wonder and adventure that make being outdoors exciting for kids. San Elijo Lagoon offers hikes focused on: birding, nature hide & seek- looking for overlooked aspects of nature, and everything’s connected. Go on several of these hikes and you can even earn prizes.

Don't Miss: The reserve boasts a nature center that is a perfect place to stop in before your walk. Family Fun Days are offered the first Sunday of each month with guided walk on Track Trails, interactive activities, and crafts and the topics vary each month. Check out May's Family Fun Day featuring bugs!
