Toddler Time: Sights, Sounds, Textures
Explore materials and colors with your family through sight and sound. Toddlers will have the opportunity to investigate various textures to discover new modes of sensory play. Fri. Event details.

Toddler Art Exploration
During the Summer, Pachis will be offering “afternap” hours for kids ages 18 months to 3 years-old. Your kiddo will have great fun exploring the different forms of making and discovering the art process. Through exploration stations, kids will play, develop their 5 senses and learn about themselves. All kids must be accompanied by an adult that is expected to participate. Fri. Event details.

Summer Movie Night on USS Midway
Join the USS Midway for family fun activities, concession and a showing of “Moana” under the stars on the flight deck!
Guests are encouraged to bring outdoor folding chairs and blankets, seating will not be provided. Please note, this event will take place on an open-air flight deck, so jackets and sweaters are recommended. This event is free but advanced tickets will be required. Chula Vista Harbor Fest
Chula Vista knows how to celebrate summertime right! This year’s annual HarborFest will have everything you could possibly want at a free, family-friendly celebration! Don’t miss the chance to explore more than 20 green initiatives, stroll through exotic automobile displays and peruse a vibrant art exhibition with breathtaking ocean views as a backdrop.
Returning for 2018, and curated by the Chula Vista foodie community, HarborFest will welcome the region’s best chefs, artisanal spirits, and craft beers to the Taco, Spirits and Craft Beer Revolution from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. This delicious showdown features dozens of delectable tacos, scrumptious spirits and craft beers battling out to be named Best of the Fest by voting attendees. HarborFest was made for families. The Discovery Zone will keep the young (and young at heart) entertained all day with interactive activities, arts and crafts and even free kayaking and paddle board lessons. The Discovery Zone also provides an opportunity to learn about the seaside ecosystem with educational exhibits from The Living Coast Discovery Center. A Talk on the Wild Side
A glimpse inside the world of wildlife and conservation with Jackie Navarro. Enjoy an entertaining afternoon with animal ambassadors, wild things and wild places!  Get up close and personal with bearcats, honeybears, alligators and more while leaving with a better understanding and hope for the future of these amazing creatures. Bring the entire family and join us on August 18 from 2 -3 p.m. at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center in La Jolla. Tickets for adults are $20, and are $15 for children under 12. Space is limited, so don’t wait too long to sign up!  Find out more here and click here for reservations. Sat. World Bodysurfing Championships
Cowabunga! This summer marks the 41st annual bodysurfing competition where over 350 surfers will spin, barrel roll and split for their chance to be crowned grand champion. Bring your kiddos to gawk in amazement at these acrobatic surfers! Sat. & Sun. Event details.

Old Town

TwainFest is a free family festival, perfect for all ages, celebrating the literature and culture of 19th Century America. Hear terrific music, listen to stories of real Californians as well as pieces by Mark Twain, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Paul Laurence Dunbar and others, read aloud by San Diego actors. Delight in giant puppets, vote in the election of 1872, play Croquet with the Red Queen and play games to win prizes and free books. Lots of fun for everyone. Balboa Park

Fairy Tales in the Park
The 10th Annual Fairy Tales in the Park is a whimsical, interactive dance event which engages both young audiences and families, introducing them to the art of ballet through familiar stories they know and love. Wind your way through an enchanted forest and watch as the classic stories of Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel and A Midsummer Night’s Dream come to life on the historic Casa del Prado Theater stage in Balboa Park. This year’s Fairy Tales in the Park also features a first look at the recently-announced SDCYB 2019 spring ballet Cinderella and is narrated by a professional storyteller. It is a whimsical, interactive dance performance that merges the beauty of ballet with the excitement of unforgettable stories and is perfect for families and audiences of all ages.
