Ho, ho, ho! It’s another holiday weekend in San Diego, this time featuring the big man himself. Whether you and your family are in East County and up for a Santa celebration at the Lakes, in the mood for some pancakes, syrup and Santa in Coronado, or feel like taking in the twinkling lights while reciting your wish list to St. Nick at the Botanic Gardens, the entire city of San Diego is alive with the holidays.
Santee Santa at the Lakes
Join the holiday celebration with rides galore: carnival rides, boat rides, hay rides, tractor rides and pony rides. Whew, that was a list! You can also do a little snow sledding — yes, in San Diego when the weather is in the 60’s — stop by the petting zoo, create holiday art, make crafts and eat! Of course, Santa will be there, too. Sun, 5:30 pm. Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve. All ages. Event Details.
Breakfast with Santa
Have breakfast with the jolly old man in the red suit. The City of Coronado Recreation Services is hosting its annual Breakfast with Santa event. Chow down on pancakes, make crafts, participate in activities and visit with Santa himself. This is a great opportunity to get that perfect holiday photo with Santa, sans the major mall lines. Sat, 8:00 am and 10:00 am. Coronado Community Center. $8 for children/$10 for adults. All ages. Event Details.
Holiday Hoedown with Hullabaloo
Make your Santa photos a little unconventional this year by snapping them with Cowboy Santa. He’ll be available from 2:00-4:00 pm. Rock out to the Hullabaloo Santa Songs Concert at 4:00 pm and don’t miss story time with the author of Santa Claus and the Molakai Mules at 4:30. You’ll find local designers and vendors with fun holiday gift ideas, holiday sweets, a free raffle and more. Sun, 2:00. Babies by the Sea Boutique. Free. All ages. Event Details.
Garden of Lights
After the sun goes down, the San Diego Botanic Garden is transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland with over 100,000 sparkling lights, creating a magical holiday experience. Holiday crafts, live music, roasting marshmallows and Santa will round out your evening. Sat, 5:00 pm. San Diego Botanic Gardens. $4 for children/$12 for adults. All ages. Event Details.
Out of town
Christmas in the Valley
Get in the Christmas spirit at Bates Nut Farm, where you’ll enjoy a Living Nativity, Polar Express hayride, cookie decorating, crafts, storytelling and more. Meet Santa Claus in person for the first — or tenth! — time this season. Live entertainment and refreshments are available. Sat, 10:00 am. Bates Nut Farm. All ages. Event Details.
