If you’re looking for family fun this first official weekend of summer, there’s no shortage of events in San Diego. Spend some time on the water at the San Diego International Boat Show. Head to the San Diego Botanic Gardens for the annual Fairy Festival. Meet Bob the Builder at Westfield North County. Or participate in the Jr. Heroes Run. Have a great weekend!

This event features 150 boats in-water and on-land in a festive family-friendly seaside atmosphere, and is THE place to see and experience everything that boating has to offer, with hands-on activities, including a chance to Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) and take a variety of boating courses on-land or in-water. Fri. – Sun., 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sheraton Harbor Island, $12/person (free for kids 15 and under). Create a Portrait for Dad
Back by popular demand! This Father’s Day come to Pachis Art Studio for Kids in Liberty Station to celebrate that important person in your child’s life. Children will be painting a portrait of dad over canvas. Everyone will receive a guided drawing instruction, painting guidance and all materials necessary during this workshop. Jr. Hero Run
It’s heroes versus villans in this kid-friendly 3K run/walk that benefits Make-A-Wish. Dress as your favorite superhero and grab a water gun. Fairy Festival
Kids can become fairies for the day when they create a fairy house, visit the Fairy Queen, leave a message on the Wishing Bush, and sign and dance with Snap Tap N Sing. Meet Bob the Builder
Mattel’s Bob the Builder™ is building, digging and hauling your way! Stehly Farms Organics Blackberry Festival
It is blackberry time! Head to the Blackberry Festival where you’ll be treated to a farm tractor tour guided by owners, Noel and Jerome Stehly. Enjoy our petting zoo, corn maze, little train ride and playground. With each paid admission you will receive a container to pick your own berries. There will also have food for purchase – tacos, salad, flatbread pizza’s, gelato and smoothies. Sat., 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Stehly Farms Organics,, $7/person (free for kids under 4). Wild About California
