The story follows the charismatic con-artist, Harold Hill, a traveling-salesmen who charms the townsfolk of River City into starting up a kids marching band. His scam? Harold plans to take the townsfolks money and run. His problem, Marian Paroo, the town librarian and piano teacher, who sees right through the charade and who Harold Hill finds himself falling in love with.
