From fun activities to celebrate mom to Cinco de Mayo to outdoor fun, we’ve rounded up some great events happening this Mother’s Day weekend. Indulge in chocolate at the San Diego Botanic Garden’s Chocolate Festival. Take the family (furry kids too) to the Walk for Animals event at Liberty Station. Old Town Cinco de Mayo
This celebration has an incredible variety of festivities and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy including a special kids area and stage. Enjoy a car show, chalk art, shopping, Mexican wrestling, and rope tricks. Enjoy carriage rides, pony rides, and carnival rides; plus soccer matches, and displays. Walk for the Animals
This annual event by San Diego Humane Society & SPCA raises funds to help homeless and abused animals. The event features a pancake breakfast, a scenic two-mile walk, vendors, and doggie activities and contests. Sat., 7 a.m. – 12 p.m., NTC Park at Liberty Station, $15 – $40/entrant. All ages. Asian Cultural Festival
The Asian Cultural Festival of San Diego celebrates its 5th year as San Diego’s celebration for Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month. Festival features martial arts, cultural dances and exhibitions, cooking demos, entertainment, games, and food. Sat., 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Mira Mesa Community Park, Free. All ages. Event details.
Gator by the Bay
Gator By The Bay is the largest, most authentic Louisiana-themed music and food festival this side of the bayou. It features four days of live music with over 85 musical acts on six stages, along with 10,000 pounds of crawfish trucked from Louisiana, non-stop dancing, shopping, playing and eating on the beautiful San Diego Bay. Mother’s Day Painting and Perfume Workshop
If you’re looking for a memorable and fun Mother’s Day activity for you and your kiddo, head to Pachis Art Studio for Kids. You will work together to create a very special “mom” inspired painting and finish the morning by making your very own floral and herbal natural perfume sprays to take home with you. Food and Farm Family Fun Day
Take a family outing to our beautiful organic garden and Victorian home to explore the connections between food, health, and a healthy planet. Participate in hands-on cooking, gardening, and educational activities as a family. See the whole “farm to table” process unfold before you.
