It may be November, but it’s already looking a lot like the December holiday season! This weekend kicks off several San Diego holiday traditions, including the Old Globe Theatre’s Christmas Tree Lighting, the debut of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas performance, holiday celebrations, and much more. Of course, there is non-holiday events to enjoy like the Encinitas Fall Festival and a New Parents Expo in Pacific Beach.

San Diego

Fantasy on Ice
Ice skating? Outside? In San Diego? Yes! Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, SENTRE Partners and Friends of Rady Children’s are teaming up to present Fantasy on Ice, a wonderful way to enjoy the holidays with your family. Proceeds from this event benefit the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s Hospital. This is the first day of Fantasy on Ice. New Parents Expo
Enjoy more than 20 locally-owned businesses and organizations that will be educating parents on everything from making organic baby food, to financial planning, to training babysitters and finding the right swim lessons. Each registered guest will receive a goodie bag filled with coupons, samples, and other information from vendors and sponsors. Old Globe Christmas Tree Lighting
The Old Globe Christmas Tree Lighting kicks off the holiday season in connection with the holiday musical, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!  This fun family event features a special live performance by members of the Grinch cast and a delightful holiday snowfall on the Globe’s Copley Plaza. “Pictures at an Exhibition” Family Concert
The Classics Philharmonic Orchestra and Malashock Dance perform a musical tribute to artist Victor Hartmann in an original production of Modest Mussorgsky’s famous Pictures at an Exhibition. Take a stroll through the promenade and join us for a colorful portrayal of a medieval castle, dancing chicks, and the Great Gate of Kiev which are sure to paint a lasting impression. Encinitas Fall Festival
The festival features more than 450 booths showcasing arts, crafts, gifts, food and more. Live music will be playing at three venues, Lumberyard Courtyard Stage, Pacific Station Stage and Community Stage. Sun., 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Downtown Encinitas, Free. All ages. More details.

Santa Parade and Tree Lighting
Take the family for a holiday tradition at the 4th Annual Santa Parade & Tree Lighting. Tree Lighting begins at 6:00 pm. Bring your family to see the 30 foot tree with 10,000 twinkle lights light up the night for the Holiday Season. Afterward, enjoy the many community groups and holiday acts as they lead the Santa Parade down Main Street. Sat., 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Otay Ranch Town Center, Free. All ages. Event details.

Santee Holiday Lighting

Mother Goose Parade
