Fall is in full swing with LEGOLAND‘s Bricktacular Halloween event, Bates Nut Farm’s Scarecrow contest and so much more awesome autumn inspired fun this weekend. Read on for the details.

LEGOLAND‘s Bricktacular Halloween
Fall is a time for costumes, treats and family fun, and even though LEGOLAND® California is still awaiting approval to open, the Resort is joining in the festivities with an outdoor experience of its own…Introducing: Halloween in Miniland! Every weekend during October the Park’s Miniland U.S.A becomes a not-so-spooky Halloween destination filled with activities, tasty treats and one of a kind LEGO® Halloween décor inviting families to wear their favorite costumes and have safe fun. Halloween in Miniland features character meet and greets, virtual costume contests, a Miniland scavenger hunt, LEGO building activities, and a goody bag filled with candy and a LEGO surprise. Families can enjoy savory food options at Smoke House BBQ and NINJA Kitchen and satisfy sweet cravings with LEGOLAND California’s world-famous Granny’s Apple Fries. Fri.-Sun. 

HalGLOWeen
Join the San Diego Zoo for three weekends in October filled with glowing fun, giggles, and grins during their HalGLOWeen event. The Zoo has designed the entertainment to allow for social distancing, so you can have fun safely. Kids 11 and younger can come in costumes that align with the Zoo’s guidelines. Activities include: Python Path, Bubble Dance Party, Dr. Zoolittle’s Mask-Erade and so much more. Fri.-Sun.

Drive-In Movie: The Princess Bride
Enjoy this drive-in showing of the classic fairytale romance, The Princess Bride! Not many films will leave you with a thumping heart and a busted gut from all the witty humor – but this one will! A fairy tale adventure about a beautiful young maiden, Buttercup who is separated from her one true love – the farmhand, Westley. Westley must find Buttercup and save her. She has been kept hostage, and is betrothed to the evil Prince Humperdinck – but true love cannot keep the lovers apart. Fri. 8 p.m.

Kids Free in October
This Oct. 1-31, kids 12 and under receive free admission at many art, cultural, and science museums and historical sites in San Diego County. The San Diego Zoo and Safari Park are also offering free admission to kids 11 years-old and younger the entire month of October. Check out a new destination or an old favorite. Kids Free in October gives families the opportunity to enjoy new museum experiences each year. Visit SanDiego.org to view participating museums and terms.

Haunted Aquarium Remix
Birch Aquarium is kicking off its Fall Festival with Haunted Aquarium Remix, a Halloween-themed experience geared towards kids ages 2 to 10. Included with admission, and free for aquarium members, the inaugural event includes fun, outdoor activities that are designed with safety in mind. Upon entering, each child will receive a kit that includes a Discovery Booklet and supplies to complete activities. Kids will have the opportunity to learn about and touch spooky creeps of the deep on Tide Pool Plaza, including slimy seaweed, small sharks, rays and other local animals, as well as enjoy a haunted kelp maze, find hidden pumpkins, and explore fun decor throughout the aquarium. Kids are encouraged to dress up (please remember that masks must be worn at all times in accordance with safety guidelines).

Bates Nut Farm’s Annual Scarecrow Contest
Join the fun of this wonderful family tradition of participating in the 29th annual Bates Nut Farm Scarecrow Contest. All entries will have the opportunity to compete for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place prizes. Each entry will receive a free jack-o-lantern pumpkin and a certificate of participation. Winning scarecrows will become property of Bates Nut Farm. The registration forms are available on their website under the events tab. Bring your scarecrow entries Oct. 9th or 10th by 10 a.m. All of the Pumpkin Patch festivities will continue throughout the weekend including the tractor hayrides, straw maze, pony rides, and food. Admission is free. $5.00 parking on October weekends. Sat. 10 a.m.

Harry Potter Film Series
Go on a journey with your favorite wizards and fantastic beasts with Angelika Film Center’s Wizarding World Series. Join them weekly on Saturdays to re-live the magic of the Harry Potter films on the big screen. Sat. noon

All Inclusive Day of Play Resource Fair
The Special Needs Resource Foundation of San Diego is hosting their 3rd annual All Inclusive Day of Play & Resource Fair. This Interactive Drive-Thru event is free for families. There will be activity stations, giveaways, family resource, entertainment and more. Children of all abilities can enjoy activity stations including a Star Wars Light Saber Craft, Ollivanders Wand Shop, a free book at the Literacy Duck Pond and more. All activities and resources are free and open to the public. Please note! All COVID-19 guidelines will be strictly enforced, including requiring face masks for everyone at this event (booth vendors and attendees in cars) and social distancing.
