San Diego Bayfair
San Diego Bayfair has been an end of summer tradition in San Diego since 1964. The three-day festival features overnight RV camping on Mission Bay, dazzling power boat racing, live music, family fun, beach party, BBQ festival and more. Fri.-Sun. Event details.

Carlsbad

Family Movie Night
Bring family and friends, a blanket and low-back chair to Stagecoach Community Park for a night of fun activities and an outdoor movie presentation. There will be a movie themed FunZone between 5-7 p.m. with a bounce house, obstacle course race, crafts, games and activities. Wristbands for the FunZone can be purchased for $5 at the event. Sat. Poway

Fall Camping Series
Camping your way! Set up your tent and explore the park at your own pace. Hike the many trails, drop a line to catch a fish, cruise the lake on a motorboat, or simply relax by your campsite, and take in all the natural beauty that Lake Poway offers. Workin’ on the Railroad
Railroads have been an important part of Poway’s heritage and the city would like you to join them in their celebration. In addition to a main stage in the gazebo filled with musical entertainment from San Diego Folk Heritage, there will be model railroad layouts in Templars Hall, western reenactors, train robberies, the Heritage Museum and Nelson House will be open for tours, and of course, the Poway Midland Railroad will provide train rides around the park for a nominal fee. Seaport Village

Studio by the Bay Family Days
Studio by the Bay is an extension of The New Children’s Museum collaborative and process-based art practice located in Seaport Village. Along with creating a new body of work, the artists will partner with the Museum each month to host Studio by the Bay Family Days that offer free weekend workshops and play-based experiences for kids and families. Workshops are offered from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. This month’s workshop is Spray Art Techniques Sat. Event details.

Mexican Independence Day Celebration
Commemorate Mexican Independence Day, also referred to as El Grito, with a free AXIS concert. Join the fiesta for craft making, margaritas and dancing. A special host will introduce and explain all aspects of this marvelous celebration, both in English and Español. Sat. Event details.

Mingei International Museum Pop-Up
Join the fun of this Family Sunday Pop-Up, hosted by Mingei International Museum. This month use recycled materials to create your own sea creature mosaic, inspired by artist Niki de Saint Phalle and her Nikigator. Led by Guest Artist, Joan Green of Green Art Labs, you will experiment with reusable materials such as cardboard, plastics, laminates and more to piece together your very own colorful mosaic. Mini Mingei Storytime: Look, discuss and listen during this 30-minute interactive story time intended for art-loving children and families of all ages. Offered at 1 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., enjoy the sounds of Camarada and meet Scott Paulson on harp, theremin and other “gestural” instruments as he takes you on a musical journey and shares all about his craft. Founder’s Day
Old Town San Diego’s Founders’ Day Festival will be a fun, family-oriented celebration, as well as an opportunity to recognize and reflect on the great diversity of the people that make up Old Town’s history. The City of San Diego and Old Town Chamber of Commerce, along with other community organizations, will host the Founders’ Day Festival to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of San Diego. Families are encouraged to participate in the many scheduled activities during the two-day festival and to learn more about the history of Old Town San Diego.
