This weekend’s events are as exciting as ever! The Zoppè Italian Family Circus is in town, the Blue Angels take to the sky at the Miramar Air Show, Cabrillo sails into the bay at The Cabrillo Festival and you can party with fairytale princesses on a luxury yacht! Read on for all the magic.

Watch the Blue Angels and other aerial performers conquer the skies, view static displays of military equipment, explore military aircraft, watch live musical performances and more. Fri.-Sun. Event details.

El Cajon

El Cajon Oktoberfest
Kick up your heels to the oom-pah music at this traditional fest where you’ll polka and waltz as well as do the chicken dance. Put on by the German American Societies of San Diego, this is the most traditional Oktoberfest in town. Enjoy classic fare like bratwurst, potato pancakes, and sauerkraut, alongside a large variety of German beers. Half-pints can nosh on pretzels, play festival games and create crafts in the Kid Zone. La Jolla

Parent’s Night Out in La Jolla
The perfect date night or dinner date with friends is right at your fingertips. Drop the kids (ages 5-13) off at Parachute Studio for fun art projects and a movie… no parents allowed! The first two hours they will be painting and drawing, while the last two hours they will be watching a movie. Enjoy all of the fun that the Village of La Jolla has to offer. Catch a flick at The Lot, grab a drink at Hennessey’s, enjoy a nice meal at Whisk and Ladle or just take a peaceful walk down La Jolla Cove. Zoppè Italian Family Circus
The Zoppè Italian Family Circus welcomes guests into an intimate 500-seat tent for a one-ring circus that honors the best history of the Old-World Tradition. Starring Nino the clown, the circus features acrobatic feats, equestrian showmanship, canine capers, clowning and plenty of audience participation. Fri.-Sun. Event details.

Point Loma

San Diego Cabrillo Festival
The Cabrillo Festival is a fun event for the entire family, with educational activities, cultural demonstrations and exciting folkloric performances. Brightly colored clothing and dramatic music and dancing bring to life the traditions of the Native American, Mexican, Portuguese and Spanish cultures that are part of the Age of Exploration. The Cabrillo Festival features food booths with delicious traditional Mexican, Native American, Portuguese and Spanish food. Vendors will showcase their various artistic goods. The highlight of the Cabrillo Festival is the re-enactment of Cabrillo’s landing on the shores of San Diego Bay in 1542. “Cabrillo,” his crew sail into the bay on the San Salvador, and once again claim the land for Spain. A navigator sailing under the flag of Spain, when Cabrillo stepped ashore on Ballast Point, he was the first European to land on the west coast of what is now the United States of America. Sat. Latino Book & Family Festival
The 67th Latino Book & Family Festival is held on the beautiful campus of MiraCosta College in Oceanside. Along with plenty of free parking and great food vendors there is something for every member of the family. Kids will delight in activities and entertainment selected just for them. All family members will enjoy over 140 exhibitors, 20+ workshops, entertainment, food, and the opportunity to speak directly to award-winning Latino authors. Sat. Event details.

Museum Mash-Up
Kids Free October is back! All month long, children 12 and younger can enjoy free admission to 40 museums and attractions across San Diego County. To celebrate, The New Children’s Museum is hosting a special kickoff event, Museum Mashup, at The New Children’s Museum Park. Ten participating museums will be on site with hands-on activities, live entertainment and lots more family fun. They’ll have arts/crafts, games and an even an up-close animal encounter with the Living Coast Discovery Center. You can also explore The New Children’s Museum while you’re there. Sun. Encinitas Oktoberfest
The Encinitas Oktoberfest is here! The beer begins to pour at 10 a.m. and will kick off with a ceremonial pied piper parade beginning at noon. Featuring a street craft faire with over 150 vendors serving authentic German food and beers from national & local breweries, and including unusual artisans and craft items. There will be a family fun zone with children’s games, family oriented activities and much more. In the family tent Paulaner will be returning with their delicious German beers along with a couple others. German-American Band, and Bavarian dancers will be performing, & of course the ever popular German games will be sprinkled throughout the day. Sun. Event details.
