Friday Night at Liberty: Open Art Studio
The first Friday of every month, all businesses and art studios of the Arts District at Liberty Station open their doors for an evening of culture, entertainment and community. Pachis Art Studio for Kids will be participating every month by offering an open art studio setup for all families to visit their space and get creative making take home art projects and/or participating on collaborative projects with other guests. This month, they invite you to add your positive intentions, dreams and hopes to their wish wall. Liberty Station Outdoor Movie: A Wrinkle in Time
Arts District Liberty Station welcomes back its free outdoor film series on the second Saturday of each month from May to October 2018. Evenings feature surprise pop-up performances or activities along with curated shorts preceding the feature film. Movie lovers are encouraged to arrive early and visit the Arts District Liberty Station galleries, studios and museums. Grab a picnic, blanket, or low back chair and spend an evening underneath the stars with friends, family, and neighbors. Movies begin after sunset. All ages are invited, and no alcohol can be brought into the venue. This Saturday’s movie is A Wrinkle in Time. Sat. Event details.

Clairemont Mesa West

Back to School Chocolate Making Class
San Diego’s colorful chocolate shop Sweet Petite Confections is welcoming the autumn season with a “Back To School!” themed chocolate making class. Secure your spot at this reservations-only class to learn the art of making fantastically flavored chocolates and bark over the course of two hours while creating nearly 1.5 pounds of confections. During this class, students will play with favorite flavors like salted caramel and peanut butter cup and select flavors for this month like spicy serrano ganache and smoked sea salt caramel made by chocolatier Michelle Lomelin. Students will also select from more than two dozen ingredients as they personalize a chocolate bark–with favorite flavors including freeze dried fruits and savory pretzels, potato chips and a wide selection nuts. Additionally, this month there will be Hawaiian sea salt, candied bacon, crushed Lemonheads and more! Cost $40 per adult or parent-child team (5-12 yrs w/ 1 adult). Sat. Event details.

Poway Days Parade & Community Festival
Poway Days activities begin with the annual Parade at 9 a.m. From the pageantry and sound of marching bands and performers to local community groups, the parade is a thrilling sight. Poway Days continues after the parade with the Community Day Festival featuring exciting affordable fun for the whole family. This lively and interactive market fair environment boasts incredible foods, handmade crafts and wares, entertainment and even a robotics competition. If shopping at the unique exhibitor booths works up an appetite, prepare to head over to an awesome selection of food vendors and a beer garden. Kids will appreciate the KidsZone with its large selection of carnival rides, inflatables, games, pony rides and a petting zoo. The Community Stage will honor Poway’s different cultures with various performances and Poway Days’ exclusive Fish Tank competition promotes youth innovation and ingenuity. San Diego Kidpreneur Expo
The City Of San Diego and Mayor Kevin Faulconer have proclaimed Sep. 8, 2018 SD Kidpreneur Day in all of San Diego. The San Diego Kidpreneur Expo inspires kids and teens to discover their inner entrepreneur. The largest entrepreneurship event for kids and adults in North America, this one-day expo gives kids and teens the opportunity to showcase their very own businesses and learn from top business owners and entrepreneurs in San Diego. This year there will be over 75 Kidpreneurs and entrepreneurs booths set up ready to market their business as well as live speakers, live music, games, raffles, workshops, yummy food, lazer tag, animal encounters, crafts, contests and more. KPBS Curious George Workshop
Join San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum for the KPBS Kids Workshops featuring Curious George. Learn where food comes from and develop your green thumb with Curious George and The Man with the Yellow Hat. Meet Curious George, learn about plant lifecycles with special storytimes and hands-on workshops, practice teamwork by creating a giant plant and make an art piece to take home. Sat. Event details.

Kinderfest for the Family
It’s a great family day! The kids can enjoy the dog races, carnival games, face painting, a bouncy house, DoDo the chicken and join everyone on the dance floor for everyone’s favorite song, the Chicken Dance.
