Super Girl Surf Pro
The world’s top professional female surfers – including members of the first-ever USA Olympic Surfing Team – will be back in Oceanside for the 15th annual Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro, a World Surf League (WSL) Women’s Qualifying Series (QS). The free, family-friendly 3-day event will be jam-packed with world-class surfing competition and entertainment, including 20 live concerts, a family-friendly festival village, celebrity surf invitational, extended adaptive surfing event, annual Super Girl Gamer Pro esports tournament, Super Girl Skate Pro skateboarding contest, women’s beach soccer, free classes, speakers, art & panel discussions promoting female empowerment. If you love music and fun, then you’re in for a treat. This weekend is full of festival-themed entertainment, with interactive games, sing-alongs, creative pop-ups, and prize competitions. For one weekend only, enjoy the ultimate music event starring DJ L.L.A.M.A – the superstar behind LEGO® VIDIYO™. DJ L.L.A.M.A will be spinning his hit tune Shake, and you can show your moves in a dance-off. World of Bromeliads: Puya to Pineapple
San Diego Botanic Garden (SDBG), located in Encinitas, hosts WORLD OF BROMELIADS, a six-week exhibition of plants in the bromeliad family, including pineapples, air plants, and the stunning Puya alpestris “Sapphire Tower.” The showcase, which starts Saturday, August 14, and runs through Sunday, September 26, is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 9 am to 5 pm. Embarcadero History & Photo Tour
Experience the historical side of San Diego on this tour of the downtown waterfront along San Diego’s Embarcadero. Starting in front of the Maritime Museum’s fascinating collection of ships, this 1.5-mile, 1.5-hour walking tour along San Diego’s Embarcadero covers the full range of San Diego’s history from the days of the Kumeyaay to the region’s first sighting by Spanish explorers; through San Diego’s important aviation firsts; and the key role the city and bay played for the Navy, especially during World War II. There will be plenty of opportunities and stops for photos as the tour covers architecture, art, baseball history, and some of the famous movies shot in San Diego. Street Art Block Party
Be inspired and come out to the Street Art Block Party at One Paseo on Saturday, September 18 from 11 am – 4 pm! The event will feature local chalk artists working their magic on One Paseo’s interior street, Caminito Court, along with several live mural installations. Guests are also encouraged to engage with the permanent art at One Paseo via a self-guided tour around the property with a printed map. Finish the day at the east end of Caminito Court to experience fun, upbeat tunes and energy from synchronized performance roller-skaters, Flash Point Dance Group.
