Is your family in for a treat this weekend! There are so many great festivals and activities throughout Southern California that you just won’t be able to chose just one thing to do! There is everything you can imagine: from art, to spring, to old time music, to pirates, to stomping grapes at the Sicilian Festival. Bring the kiddos for this celebration that includes a costume contest, carnival games, cannon firings, weapon demonstrations, sword fights, mermaid grotto and scavenger hunt for pirate treasure. The San Diego’s Sicilian American community invites everyone to “Eat, Drink & Be Sicilian” for a day as part of the 20th Annual Sicilian Festival. Food booths representing the many restaurants in Little Italy will line the streets, serving up Sicilian specialties of all varieties. All children’s activities are free and include a large inflatable slide, puppet theatre shows, face painting, and many other activities to keep the bambini entertained throughout day. Community Band Festival
In celebration of the Armed Forces, the Community Band Festival features live, patriotic music, concert bands from San Diego County and from as far away as Arizona, music vendors, walk through the arts and crafts market, and ride the steam locomotive train for a nominal fee. The Anatolian Cultures and Food Festival is a cultural and historical event that includes exhibitions, food, art craft, performances, dances and live music activities.
