Here’s your inside scope to this family-friendly joint.

The Dish on iDessert
iDessert is a futuristic ice cream shop founded by “The Best Pastry Chef of France” and Food Network Star, Jean-Philippe Maury. It offers an interactive dining experience that’s all about letting you design the perfect treat. As soon as you walk in you’ll be greeted by friendly staff and interactive iPads. Their step-by-step, digital menu allows you to choose from 16 crunchy meringue shells, and inside that shell you pick the cake, gelato and fillings. Every dessert is custom made and your kiddos can do everything themselves!

Inside Scoop on Ordering
The iPad will walk you through the process. But here’s where your decision-making comes in: First you’ll chose the crunchy meringue shell. Kids will love the Oreo, M&M and rainbow sprinkle options. Next, pick from six gelato flavors or two sorbets, all of which are made in house. We suggest checking out the seasonal favorites like pumpkin in the fall. Then pick a cake flavor such as vanilla, lemon or chocolate, all of which are made from scratch (and there’s a gluten free choice). Finally, you’ll select one of eight naturally-flavored creams such as vanilla, chocolate or raspberry.

Of course, you could leave it at that and enjoy your dessert creation. But we suggest looking at a few of the add-on options like real fruit or crunch toppings such as brownie bites, butterfinger or white chocolate perils. A big hit with the kiddos is the famous sauce that comes in a plastic bubble tube inserted into the dessert. You may even elect to have your dessert served in the Vegas Bowl, which surrounds the treat in dry ice that steams.

We love how you can customize ever aspect of the dessert. If your kiddo has a gluten allergy, simply leave out the cake. Can’t eat dairy? Opt for sorbet and fruit. iDessert is sure to please even the pickiest of eaters and those with special dietary needs. And all the sauces and creams are natural, made from real fruit and not a trace of high fructose corn syrup.

Tips for a Sweet Experience
While iDessert is known for its unique dessert with the meringue shell, they also have a build-your-own milkshake option. The store also features a variety of meringue cookies and gourmet coffee and tea beverages.

The restaurant can get pretty crowded during peak times, including weekend evenings. If you’re heading to iDessert on the weekend, consider going earlier in the day or before the dinner crowd. Weekdays are are also a great time to visit since iDessert opens daily at 11 a.m.

Since iDessert is located in Little Italy, you’ll need to plan time to find parking and walk to the restaurant. Weekdays and non-peak hours don’t present much of a parking hassle. And good news for families: there’s a restroom onsite.
