We can’t imagine a better way to enjoy the warm Southern California sun than with a trip to the park to monkey around on the playground and have a picnic. So if you’re in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area, plan a trip to Sabre Springs Community Park for a day of fun and relaxation. Best of all, it’s free!

Sabre Springs has something for everyone. The park has two Little League baseball fields, an expansive grassy area, and two tot-lots where your little ones can explore slides, play structures, swings and see-saws.

The park also has several designated BBQ areas, complete with grills for a cookout, but be aware that the park lacks shaded pavilions over the benches. If you’d rather not fire up the grill, grab a basket and blanket and spread out underneath a shady tree for an old-fashioned picnic. Sabre Springs also has a public restroom and water fountain.

The grassy area is great for playing catch or flying kites, and thanks to its size, there’s plenty of room for even the most energetic kids to run around and expel some of that never-ending energy. If the non-walkers are anxious to do some exploring, bring a stroller and take a walk around the baseball field for a little exercise.

Because the park has lots of shade, it’s easy to forget about the sun’s rays. As with any outdoor adventure, be sure to pack sunscreen for both you and your child. Wearing a hat and sunglasses are also highly recommended to best protect yourself from UV rays.

The park is free to the public, so plan a play date for you and your kid at Sabre Springs Community Park before the warm weather leaves us!
