There’s a new sheriff in town. Okay, so maybe it’s more like there’s a new espresso in town. For the first time in more than 40 years, Starbucks is introducing a new core espresso option. And it’s a blonde! Starbucks debuted its Blonde Espresso in select international areas several years ago. Not surprisingly there was a completely positive response to the base drink.
So what is Starbucks Blonde Espresso? While it’s not exactly Barbie blonde, it may have more fun than its older brunette cousin. The new blonde beverage was created by a team of Starbucks master blenders and roasters. The beans are sourced from Latin America and East Africa and roasted to create a subtle taste.
Vice President of Global Coffee for Starbucks, Andrew Linnemann, said, “We set the standard for a dark, boldly roasted coffee and in this case, we broke a few of our own rules by taking a lighter approach to espresso which created a bright taste with sweet citrus notes and a smooth body.” Mmm. Sounds refreshing, right?
Not only can you get the Blonde Espresso on its own, but you can also get your Caffe latte, Cappuccino, Flat White, Macchiato or Americano drinks made with it.
