Entries are divided into three categories: elementary grades 1 through 5 (ages five to 10), middle school grades 6 through 8 (ages 11 to 13) and high school grades 9 through 12 (ages 14 to 18). Kids can submit anything from picture books with illustrations to young adult fiction up to 240 pages long.

The deadline to submit is Jan. 1, 2019 so if your young scribes don’t already have a manuscript ready, set them to writing over the rest of the winter break. The grand prize winner will be announced on Jun. 15, 2019 and all finalists will receive a subscription to Stone Soup Magazine. Check out the full rules and entry form here.
