Is it time to upgrade your kiddo’s car seat? Then you’ll want to wait just a couple more weeks to hit up Target’s car seat trade-in event!

From Mon. Apr. 5 through Sat. Apr. 17, shoppers can drop off their old car seats in designated drop-off boxes located near Guest Services at most Target stores (in-store drop-offs only!). In exchange, you’ll get a coupon for 20 percent off a new car seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller or select baby home gear, such as playards, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers that can be used both in-store and online.

The coupon can be used both in-store and online through May 1, 2021. In order to participate in the trade-in, shoppers must be enrolled in Target Circle. Once you arrive, you’ll scan the sheet on the drop-off boxes from your phone to start the process.

Target will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and even car seats that are expired or damaged. Not only do you get a great deal on a new item, but you’re also helping to create less waste as Target’s partner, Waste Management, will recycle materials from your old car seats.

Since the program began in 2016 over 1.1 million seats have been recycled saving 17 million pounds of materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

So if you’ve got that old car seat sitting around that isn’t accepted through your own curbside pickup or has expired, head to Target starting Apr. 5. The environment will thank you.
