The holiday shopping countdown had begun! Even if you’re not exactly in the holiday shopping spirit yet, Target’s toy section redesign is something you need to experience. With the demise of Toys”R”Us, Target has made it a whole lot easier to scope out and scoop up those hot toys on basically every kid’s wishlist this holiday season. So what does the big red bullseye retailer have in store (literally)?
We’ll start with the size stats. Target is devoting a quarter-million square feet of new spaces to ALL THE TOYS—across 500 stores. Oh, and the space is permanent. That means you can forget about this being a display that’s just sticking around for the holidays, because these spacious toy areas are here to stay. Yay!
Along with the increased square footage, 100 Target toy departments are getting a whole new redesign. This includes a new overall layout, new signs, oversized displays (because obviously your tot will flock to them) and interactive activity walls.
When you get to the new toy department, expect to see a major increase in inventory—double what the retailer offered last year.
As if the redesign isn’t enough on its own, Target is also stepping up their digital game. Get ready for some serious tech action. A new digitally-enabled kids gifting catalog will allows customers to add items to their cart with Target’s new scanning technology.
But wait…there’s more. Target is hosting a mega-load of family-friendly store events. Get ready for 25,000 hours of joy, where the kiddos will get the chance to test their fave toys and so much more.
When are these changes taking place? According to Target’s website, the 500-store expansion project will wrap up by Nov. 2. The 100 store remodel completion date is set to happen by the holidays in December. And for your shopping enjoyment…Target will drop a whopping 2,500 new and exclusive toys during this holiday season, too!
