E-cards are fine, of course, but nothing compares to the delight and surprise of receiving good-old-fashioned paper cards in the mail. There’s something about printed postcards and letters that just feel more personal, more thoughtful, and more real than digital greetings. Luckily, there’s a growing crop of smart, well-designed pixels-to-paper apps to help create and send personalized snail mail cards that show how much you really care. Flip through our picks of the best printed card apps that are anything but fuddy-duddy.

Chatbooks

Instagrammers and other smartphone photohounds likely are familiar with Chatbooks’ excellent and affordable photobook service, which lets users create lovely little printed photo albums for only $8 each. With Chatbooks’ recently launched Print Packs service, users now can print individual pics and order them in sets. This new service offers the same convenience and superb print quality as Chatbooks, and makes each image more shareable as note cards, greetings or keepsakes. There’s even an option that automatically queues up photos that you post on social media or select from a specified album to print. After every 24 photos are added, individual 5x5-inch pictures are printed and shipped right to your door.
